About your guide:

My name is Corey Bechtold.  I have been fishing since I was a little kid.  Every time I go fishing, I am learning.  It is a sport that changes weekly, daily, hourly and sometimes by the minute!

I have several family members that helped me grow as a fisherman.  My grandpa liked fishing Walleyes.  My dad was mainly a troller for Pike.  My Uncle was a big Pan fisherman.  Panfish is a true passion because it is a fish that offers action, a good fight on light tackle and there are several advanced techniques that most anglers don't think of.  I raised 3 kids that are outstanding fishers.  Since I wanted them to be engaged with fishing, I had to get them on bites that kept their interest.  I truly enjoy taking kids and adults fishing and teaching them more with fish that offer good teaching opportunities and repetition.  Fishing for Crappies and Sunfish offer greater opportunities for teaching how to detect bites, setting the hook and fish catching!  Those techniques will help when graduating to larger game fish.

A side note about me.  Several years ago, I saw a void in the fishing industry that needed to be filled.  I designed, developed and patented a hook/jig for fishing.  This product launched into a family owned and operated company known as Macula Tackle!  My jigs are often available to see and use during trips.  It's heartwarming when people see and understand the benefits of my jigs over traditional jigs.  This company is still growing, and we are adding sizes and shapes to better help people catch more fish and enjoy their fishing experience!

Although I pride myself on Crappies and Sunfish, I also enjoy fishing for Walleyes, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass and Pike when there are good opportunities to catch them. I also bring along fish cleaning tables and bags should anyone decide to keep some fish for dinner. I believe in Selective Harvest/Catch and Release.  If a trophy fish is caught, I request good photos and measurements so the fish can be returned to the fishery.
